If your Ecuador holiday includes a cruise to the Galapagos Islands, we have good news for you, in that South America's leading airline, Lan will soon be flying to the Galapagos from Quito and Guayaquil. The first flights are due to take place on September 16th, operated by Lan's subsidiary LanEcuador.
Lan will join existing carriers AeroGal and TAME in operating flights from the mainland to the Galapagos and will look to carry on their excellent record throughout South America, both for comfort, quality and reliability - while we've always been happy with both TAME and AeroGal, it will be great to have another good airline on this route to keep both standards and prices competitive!
In a separate piece of news, Lan have announced their intention to merge with South America's second-biggest airline, the Brazilian carrier TAM. This will hopefully lead to better links between Brazil and Ecuador, so maybe you'll be able to fit in a quick stop in Rio as part of your Ecuador holiday?
