Almost exactly a year on from last years flight disruptions caused by the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano, the island nation is at it again with its Grimsvotn volcano trying to ruin our countries holiday plans this year. Luckily this time, however, it seems the effects of this new ash cloud will only cause a fraction of the disruption that last year’s events did.
The ash cloud has so far mainly affected Scotland and some areas of the North of England, with most flights being cancelled out of Edinburgh and Glasgow and those to the North on Tuesday morning and some flight disruption at Newcastle. Most flight are set to resume from Glasgow and Edinburgh at around lunchtime with those to the North of the resuming in the afternoon. Whilst the ash cloud is set to drift down to Heathrow by Wednesday, the main bulk of it is set to drift East towards Scandanavia and ash levels at Heathrow are predicted to not be high enough to warrant the cancellation of flights.
We are keeping a close eye on the story here and will post any updates should we feel any of our customers are too be affected.
