Cotopaxi National Park
Now that's a volcano!
Taking its name from the iconic Cotopaxi volcano, the Cotopaxi National Park is one of the most beautiful, yet surprisingly accessible National Parks in the whole of South America, with an amazing variety of landscapes, wildlife, and activities, all just a few hours from Quito!
Cotopaxi itself towers over the whole of the National Park and is visible from as far away as Quito on a clear day, but despite it's imposing bulk, it's actually a fairly achievable and non-technical climb, even for those with no experience.
Cotopaxi Tours and Trekking
For those of you who don't fancy the climb, you can actually drive up to the 4,000m+ Cotopaxi base camp, from where you have amazing views. If you fancy a bit of a thrill, you can also mountain-bike back down Cotopaxi - this has to be some of the best high-altitude biking in the world!
We also have a wide variety of treks in the National Park, from pretty gentle strolls, to full-on expeditions, which will allow you to enjoy the great variety of landscapes the park has to offer. Many of the multi-day treks spend the nights in some of the local traditional Andean haciendas - a great way to get a bit of history in with your exercise!
If you really don't fancy anything too strenuous (and let's face it, this is some serious altitude here) then we also offer a selection of single- and multi-day trips by 4WD which give you the chance to cover a lot of the park in a short space of time and in relative comfort - and you can still enjoy the dinners at the haciendas in the evenings...
