Our history actually begins in Ecuador's southern neighbour, Peru, when five years ago we set up our sister company, RealPeru, to provide the very best in tailormade Peru holidays. As things progressed, we had more and more customers asking us if they could extend their Peru holidays to include Ecuador and cruises to the Galapagos Islands. We duly went out, did the same in-depth research and investigation that we were used to doing for our holidays in Peru and began to offer these new destinations to our customers.
As time has gone on, we've learned so much more about holidays in Ecuador and Galapagos cruises, and we have so many more customers wanting to enjoy these destinations in their own rights, that we realised the time was right to set up a separate company specifically to provide the same quality tailormade holidays in Ecuador that we have successfully provided for years in Peru!
The RealEcuador difference
We are a travel company with a difference - we have actually been to Ecuador, cruised in the Galapagos, climbed Cotopaxi, explored the Amazon jungle and now we want to share it with as many people as possible!
We want to provide a service to all those people who want to really get to know the country, instead of sitting in a tour bus taking pictures through the window! Because all our trips are totally tailormade, we hope to give you the freedom of independent travel but with all the hassle and worry removed - you tell us what you like and we organise as much, or as little, as you want.

As you'll notice from looking around the website, we specialise in Ecuador and we think our expert local knowledge makes the difference between visiting Ecuador and visiting the Real Ecuador... Although we can help you with extending your trip into other countries, we really want to concentrate on making sure you get the very best out of Ecuador. We're not interested in just whisking you around the major sites with a clipboard and a tick-list; we want you to come back feeling like a local.
Our Ethical Policies
Of course, Ecuador is still a developing country and tourism in itself is an important industry. Unfortunately not all companies have our strict ethical standards. Wherever possible we use only Ecuadorean suppliers and partners and all the hotels we recommend are locally-owned and run so you can be sure that the money you spend is going back into this wonderful country.
As part of our commitment to responsible travel, we are a member of Sustainable Travel International, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building awareness, appreciation and respect for local people and our environment through education and outreach work.
